Socal- Platinum swimmer Gillian Ascari has been invited to attend the prestigious Western Zone Select Camp June 5-8 at Arizona State University. Coach Kyle will also be attending. The Zone Select Camps provide the top athletes aged 12-15 years old the opportunity to capitalize on their extraordinary achievements in the sport. SOCAL- We're losing one great coach but gaining another, and both coaches grew up with Socal. Black two head coach Brooke Munoz, who swam with Socal for four years and has been coaching with us for the last four, will be continuing her education at Chico State next semester. To qualify for the team, pool swimmers must have a minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA for the current academic year (A = 4, B = 3, C = 2), with honors, advanced placement, IB, PLTW, and dual credit college-level courses receiving .2 extra bonus points. At last week's Los Angeles Invitational, three Socal swimmers broke four Socal long course records. Nathan Lee broke the 15-16 100 Free (53.56) and 200 Free (1:55.41) records. Allison Mann broke the 17-18 200 Free Record (2:03.49), and Jeremiah Frascini broke the 13-14 1,500 record (17:11.36). Congratulations, and break them again at the Championship meets in two weeks. This past weekend at the March Madness meet at East LA, Platinum Group swimmer Dane Weber set a new team record in the 500 free. The previous record was set in 1990 by Gavin Arroyo, who later competed in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics. Great job, Dane! Coach Pickell
